Our Story

CDS Plants grew from a lifetime of hands-on horticultural experience. From my earliest days, I worked alongside my father in his thriving Acer nursery, learning the rhythms and intricacies of growing exceptional plants. That childhood immersion sparked a passion that naturally blossomed into a love for orchids. What started as a small, family-led curiosity soon flourished into CDS Plants - an award-winning nursery dedicated to producing high-quality, peat-free, British-grown orchids. Today, as a father-and-son team, we proudly showcase our collection at some of the UK’s most prestigious horticultural events, including RHS Chelsea, sharing our passion for orchids with enthusiasts across the country.

Why Our Orchids?

We have several species of orchids that we exhibit all over the country. We have been awarded many medals, including several ‘Best in shows’ and RHS Golds for the outstanding quality of our plants. We put our heart and soul into these plants to provide the best standard possible for our customers. Oh, did we also mention they are British-grown?

Our Award-Winning Orchid Display

At CDS Plants, we’ve carefully designed our orchid displays to faithfully replicate the natural habitats where orchids thrive. Each element is chosen with purpose - from the wood sourced exclusively from naturally fallen trees to the thoughtful layering of mosses and textures that mimic the forest canopies orchids call home.

Our displays are more than decorative - they’re immersive environments that celebrate the beauty and diversity of orchids while promoting sustainable practices. Over the years, we’ve refined and evolved our approach, blending horticultural expertise with artistic presentation. This dedication has culminated in the creation of our RHS Gold Medal-winning display, a true testament to our passion and craftsmanship.

The displays you see here are a proud example of that journey: a vibrant, multi-tiered arrangement of orchids in bloom, set against a dramatic backdrop that highlights their colours and forms. Informational plaques display the names of each orchid, allowing visitors to identify and appreciate the wide variety of species on show.
